Well hello there! I’m Andrea Mulford and I started this site to chronicle my sewing journey. I’m a full-time working mom of two, so the to do list pretty much never ends. In late 2015, my then eight year old daughter decided she wanted to learn how to sew. That lasted for a hot minute for her, but since then, a week hasn’t gone by where I haven’t sewed! I’m a highly analytical person, in work and in life, and sewing allows me the space to get creative while still being me. I sew when I’m happy and it makes me happier; I sew when I’m anxious and it calms me down. I try to wear something me-made every day, and I am well on my way to achieving my goal of a mostly handmade wardrobe.
When I’m not working, parenting, schlepping kids around, decluttering the house, picking up wet towels from the bathroom floor, or sewing (which doesn’t leave much time!) you can find me at the local beach, enjoying a kid-free dinner out with my husband, or checking out those thrift stores looking for fun finds and vintage jewelry to pair with my self-sewn pieces. I love picking through the sale racks at Goodwill or local independent thrift stores looking for items to give a second life, so it’s almost a guarantee that if you compliment me on something I’m wearing, I didn’t buy it off new off the rack.
I love to tell people about designers and patterns I love, and I really enjoy raising awareness of independent designers. In some cases you will see a note that I am using an affiliate link, which means if you buy the pattern from my link, I get a small (tiny!) commission from the sale which I can then put towards running this blog. I only use affiliate links for designers I love!
Oh, I should also add – I am forever changing my hair color and style so yes, all the photos on this site are of me!
