I was a tester on this pattern so maybe I’m a little biased, but I think this is a fantastic pattern that uses simple techniques to achieve a refined look. This is the Tres Bell wrap dress from Ellie & Mac (E&M). It’s a “faux” wrap dress so the front is actually all one piece, which makes for both an easier sew and an easier wear. The pattern comes with several sleeve and skirt options, including gathered, half and full circle skirt.
I sewed the short sleeves with the gathered skirt. I would have loved to do a half-circle skirt but didn’t have enough of this lovely fabric, which is a super soft double-brushed poly (DBP). I used a complementary DBP for the bands and the sash.
I sewed a medium for this dress although my measurements put me more in the bottom of the large. For the pattern test, I had sewn a large and it was a little too big on me. However, if I were to use a fabric with less stretch than the DBP (which has a LOT) I would probably go up to a large.
I plan on sewing more of these in the future – including a winter version with long sleeves and maybe adding two inches to the length. I think a tunic version would be really cute with leggings and boots too! What do you think??
